M500 INTERVIEW WITH DICK WARLOCK aka MICHAEL MYERS

HODGE- Your work as not only a stuntman but an
actor
has landed you work in such major Hollywood films
as-
"Commando", "Christine", "The Abyss", "Casino",
"Friday the 13th part 5", "The Thing", "Jaws",
and too
many more to mention. However, most fans will
always
remember you for your most famous role as MICHAEL
MYERS in "HALLOWEEN 2". Do you have a favorite
film
that you worked on?
DICK WARLOCK- JAWS.
HODGE- I've read reports that claim Malek Akkad
offered you the first pic at playing MICHAEL
MYERS in
HALLOWEEN "H20". Out of all the actors to have
played MICHAEL MYERS, fans consider you their
favorite
for the role. Why didn't you accept the role in
H20?
DICK WARLOCK- I was never asked to play M.M. in
H20.
Someone from the company did call and asked my
wife if
I'd be interested in doing the role w/mask after
they
had already shot about 15 minutes of film with
Chris
Durand. They called back shortly after that and
said
they had to much time and money with Chris so
they
would continue with him.
HODGE- Rumor has it that you made a cameo
appearance
in the Blockbuster hit "Spiderman". Any truth to
this? If so, what scene were you in?
DICK WARLOCK- Ah yes, Spiderman. I was one of
45
other gray heads on the balcony when the Green
Goblin
bombed the place. That was a gift from a friend
and
it still pays off well.
HODGE- Your credits as a stuntman for major
Hollywood
films more than doubles your credits as an actor
in
such films. Did you prefer the work as a
stuntman
over the work of actor?
DICK WARLOCK- I always wanted to ba an actor
but I
had a very bad experience when I was just
starting and
developed bad stage fright and could never
remember
the lines. May sound funny but it's true.
HODGE- Many of the HALLOWEEN fans are unaware of
this, but didn't you also play the role of an
assassin
in "Halloween 3"? By the way, what was your
opinion
on the director's decision to make "Halloween 3,
season of the witch" a movie without MICHAEL
MYERS?
DICK WARLOCK- Yes, I played The Assassin in the
film.
It wasn't the directors decision to make H3
without
M.M. It was John and Debra's. That's why they
gave
me the outfit when it was over.
HODGE- Didn't you once aspire to be a
Professional
Wrestler? I've even heard that you built a
wrestling
ring in your backyard. Any truth to this?
DICK WARLOCK- Oh yes, My sister was my
wrestling
partner until I dumped her on her head on the
hard
ground. That was the end of the career. I had
switched over to roller skating on the banked
track by
then. No one remembers Roller Derby though.
That was
a precursor to RollerBall.
HODGE- Throughout your illustrious career in
film
you've done stunts for some of the biggest
actions
scenes in Hollywood. You were even used as the
official stuntman for all of KURT RUSSELL's
action
scenes for over 20 years. What kind of injuries
did
you sustain in this dangerous line of work?
DICK WARLOCK- Well, unlike some of my fellow
stunters, I came away with only a seperated
shoulder
twice on the same shoulder. Rollerball and the
Relic.
I always thought "Safety First" which is the
moto of
the Stuntmen's Association of which I am a
Lifetime
Member.
HODGE- Who are some of your closest friends in
the
movie business?
DICK WARLOCK- Dane Farwell, Denny Pierce and Tom
Morga aka Jason in Friday 5.
HODGE- I want to thank you for taking the time
to do
this interview with me. I've admired your work
for
years. This was truly an honor. Anything you'd
like
to ad for your fans reading this?
DICK WARLOCK- The fans are the main reason I
continue
to do the conventions and do the website. I
don't
know how much longer I will continue to do either
though. There comes a time to wrap it up and get
out
of Dodge.
Thanks and take care, dick w.
