WITH MARZ PART 4
HODGE- Sup homie! You’ve got a brand new album
coming out, which could only mean one thing
man we
gotta do another exclusive HODGE/MARZ interview
to get
the word out and enlighten fools about what’s
been
going on with the MARZ Tribe lately!
HODGE- Go ahead and drop the vital stats on
me when’s
the official release date on your highly
anticipated
album AGAINST ALL ODDS?
MARZ- The album drops oct 4th, but ya'll can pre
order
it sept 24th. This album is my shit homie. It's
the
new direction im goin in stylisticly, and it's my
favorite peice of work.
HODGE- Your last album(TGZ NATION, The
Mixtape) was
a summer classic for sure but I think I speak for
a
lot of fans when I say that I can’t wait for the
all
original beats on your upcoming cd. Not that the
beats on TGZ nation were whack, it’s just that
when
you and your camp create music, it’s usually on a
whole different level than most artists out
there.
Are the beats still strictly hip hop, or do you
throw
traces of your industrial rap era in there as
well?
MARZ- This album is strickly hip hop. Thiers one
or
two songs wit a lil trace of guitar in em, but
its
completly different then anything ive ever done.
I
got a real short attention span. I get bored wit
shit
real easy, and I don't like to repeat whut I've
allready done. Anything is posible, but the
chances
of me doin another industrial album are pretty
slim. I
tend to write about whuts goin on in my life at
the
moment. When I did my industrial shit I was on
tour
wit MINISTRY. That shit was over 7 years ago.
Right
now im back in the hood in chi town grindin and
all my
tracks reflect my life at this moment.
HODGE- Throughout your music career you’ve
collaborated with all kinds of artists ranging
from-
MINISTRY, KORN, ICP, DARK LOTUS, ESTELLA SOLIEL,
WHITE
BOY RIC, MYZERY, etc. Does your new album
feature any
new collabs, or is this one reserved for the MARZ
Tribe exclusively?
MARZ- My old label raw dawg got bought and melted
into
a new company called billion dollar ballers ent.
The
other two artists on the bdb roster are CHRISSY N
PACK, and they the only ones I collabed wit on
this
cd. I didn't wanna have a bunch of guest
appearences,
I wanted to tell my story.
HODGE- Speaking of collaborations, I’ve heard
the
MYZERY & MARZ song 9MM and that shit is
incredible!
Will you be appearing on any more collab tracks
with
MYZERY for his upcoming album Love & Hate?
MARZ- Im a big fan of MYZERY, and I got mad love
for
PONCH N NAPALM. The first time I met him was
when I
met you. After that I went to New York a couple
times
for buisness n we went out n got faded, respected
each
others talent n wanted to do somthin big
together. We
originally wanted to do a whole album together n
I
would still love to, but since we live in
different
states n we both are mad busy it was hard to make
our
schedules work. But, we got 2 tracks done and
they
both blazzin!
HODGE- At one of your previous in-store signings
in
MI, you gave away a sampler cd featuring the rare
collaboration track you did with WHITE BOY RIC
titled
Respect Me. I have the track and it’s
deffinetely
one of those lost gem type tracks that MARZ fans
would
really dig if given the chance to hear it. Any
chance
of this track winding up on an upcoming album?
MARZ- I got so many song homie that I dont use,I
wrote over 50 tracks f this cd but theres only 17
on
the album, so maybee one day ill release all the
shit
that didnt make it, cuzz the songs are hot, but I
had
a specific feel I wanted on this cd, and if the
track
didn't have that feel ,I droped it.
HODGE- Last winter you performed at a concert
featuring former Psychopathic Records artists ZUG
IZLAND. Was it cool to link up with those guys
again?
MARZ- It was mad cool, me n MIKE P. gonna be cool
till
the day we die, I got nothin but love n repect
for
that boy n I know he feel the same....
HODGE- By the way man, how was the turnout for
the
concert you recently did with current WWE
Champion
JOHN CENA? I hear his music fanbase is actually
spreading out past his legions of wrestling fans.
Do
you think you might do more shows with CENA in
the
future?
MARZ- Yeah we got a couple more shows allready
booked
wit him. It's was weird homie, when we first got
asked
to do the show I said no cuzz I don't watch
wrestlin n
I had no idea who he was. A couple days latter I
was
watchin the sports channel n they where
interveiwing
this dude, he was mad fukin cool, humble and just
seemed like somebody you'd love to kickit wit.
Turned
out it was JOHN CENA. He freestyled on the show
n I
was sold. I called our bookin agent back like,
damn I
made a mistake, this muthafuker is raw....I think
he's
gonna do big things in the future, that's my boy.
HODGE- You rocked the mic for a free concert in
Ohio
the day before this years Gathering. How was the
Juggalos response to an original DARK LOTUS
member?
Did you run into any familiar faces while in the
neighborhood of the Gathering?
MARZ- No familiar faces, but I got mad love from
the
crowd. I ain't ever had somebody hate on me to
my
face at a show. I put my heart n soul into every
word
I say, and I think that comes across live. So
you
cant help but love it.
HODGE- Alright you lucky bastard, this ones for
all
us envious guys out there what was it like being
at
the AVN(adult vid awards) convention last year?
Any
wild stories, cmon homie?
MARZ- When I was wit JOHNATHON DAVIS in cali, I
met
alota porn stars. For some reason they show me
mad
love. I stayed in touch wit several of em, and
earlier this year ME, PACK, and KASH got to
expeireance that life style. But you know homie
whut happens in vegas stays in vegas......lol
HODGE- I’m still puzzled how a clean version of
your
song Steal My Shine was ever produced for last
years
CATWOMAN movie trailer. After editing that song,
the
total track length couldn’t have been much longer
than
the trailer, lol. Anyways man, it was dope
hearing
you on the tv nonetheless! I’m curious though,
was
that clean version of Steal My Shine ever put
on the
movie soundtrack, or possibly on the dvd as a
trailer
in the bonus features option?
MARZ- It was used for the trailer. I never saw
the
actual commercial, but I got alotta calls from
people
trippin like... "I swear to god i just heard your
song
on the catwomen trailer". I'd be like naw thats
impossible.....hahaha
HODGE- Alright, back to the new album before we
wrap
this interview up. Now I’m sure the new album
will
surpass all previous albums, you seem to have a
trend
going with that. If you had to pick one song on
the
new album as your favorite one, which would it
be?
MARZ- Every song on this cd is straight fuckin
fire.
"Champion" is one that stands out. I love "whuts
up".
Belive it or not, theirs a gangsta love song on
this
cd wit my girl chrissy, thats gonna have panties
wet
from new york to hollywood........hahaha
MARZ- This is a party n motivation cd, put that
shit
on, and get your fade on. It's definetly
inspirational, it'll motivate that ass to get up
get
out n get sumpthin. I got a track called "red
carpet
pimpin" thats a fantasy track. Like close your
eyes n
emagine yourself successful. Whut do you see?
So I
talk about whut I see in my future. "it is whut
it
is" deals wit all the shit thats happend in my
music
careare since i left hollywood. I ain't the type
to
suck my own dick, but this CD is allready a
classic.......
HODGE- Will we get any free unreleased tracks on
your
site to download? You know, kinda how you gave
us
those free leftover tracks that didn’t quite make
it
on the TGZ Mixtape last summer? Or shit man, can
we
get Wigger Crown up on your site to download?
You
did that shit live in my neck of the woods and
that
song was blazin!
MARZ- Yeah def have some free shit for the people
thats down wit us...like I said I wrote 50
