M500 EXCLUSIVE
INTERVIEW WITH MARZ PART 1. FROM 7/26/03......
What up ninjas. Alright, I told you earlier in the
week that I was gonna have an exclusive MARZ interview
for you right? Well, here it is homies-
HODGE: I got my advanced copy of your new "Raw
Dawg/Gorilla Pimpin" cd last week and have been
spinning it ever since! It's some incredible shit man!
Now is the official title "Gorilla Pimpin" or was that
changed to "Raw Dawg"?
MARZ:the official title iz gorilla pimpin...raw dawgs
the name of our
label.....we puttin everything together our selves
being on Geffen was not
my vibe they where looking f a limp bizkit part two
,heartless souless pg 13
rated type a shit ,they weren’t feelin me I was too
free f them,they
couldn’t put me in a nice lil corporate box, ever see
the movie brave heart??
The head of Geffen was the king “longshanks”and im
William Wallace…..id
rather die then kiss somebodys ass, it aint hard to
spot a corporate ho that
aint got no heart…….
HODGE: I read on your site recently that you have
nearly enough new tracks
to make another brand new MARZ album. Will this album
be released in 2003
as well? Any guest collabs on that material? What
Label will that other
album be on? And lastly do you have a title for the
album?
MARZ:man homie I got about 40 new joints…since I can
back from cali all I
been doin is writin…expect a new marz album early next
year….in November im
putin out a ep of some crazy shit 3 new songs a couple
a old school hip hop
covers and some shit we do live but aint ever
tracked,I do a ministry music
and tupac lyrics cover that’s allso gonna be on that
shit .plus by chrismas
we gonna have a dvd out …its gonna be the illest dvd
yall ever seen,things
that most people wont show you,as far as whut label
ima go to ,right now im
just bein real choosy who I fuck wit,I got my own
label I just need a
distribution deal…..
HODGE: Now I know you did about 90% of the production
work on a album called
"Soularium" by female chicago artist Estella Soliel.
Rumor has it that
she's done vocals on your first album "Lung Fu Mo She"
and your soon to be
released "Gorilla Pimpin". What songs is she on? Do
you still keep in
touch? I've seen pics and she's hot as hell!
MARZ:ya that’s my girl she fine as hell and crazy
talented.she didn’t sing
on lung fu mo she but shes on two trax of gorilla
pimpin…”u wanna” n “hey
bro”
HODGE: Now that you and TWIZTID have put all
differences aside, any chance
of future collabs? Like to maybe hear some Marz raps
on Sam Hein Witch
Killaz? That would be dope as hell in my opinion.
MARZ:man I would love to do some shit wit twiztid,im
allways down to
colaberate wit talented people,I think those two are
gonna be on a list with
the greatest…and im working hard to be on that list
too..
HODGE: I can remember reading a news brief on ESHAM's
former record Label
site in late 2001 that thier was gonna be a tour with
ESHAM & MARZ. That
woulda been fucking amazing man. Were you ever
contacted about this? If
so, why didn't shit go down?
MARZ:ya me and his label talked about it but the
timing didn’t work out,you
never know maybe shit will work out and you will see a
esham & marz tour……..
HODGE: News just surfaced from this years Gathering of
the Juggalos that a
new Dark Lotus album will be made! Many people feel
that the first edition
of the original Dark Lotus is thier favorite. Now I
heard that Violent J
had some harsh words about you at this years GOTJ, but
do you think you 2
could bury the hatchet and maybe see Marz do a guest
spot on that new Dark
Lotus Album? I think the fans would actaully be
psyched to see you 2 patch
things up.
MARZ:homie I got no beef wit j,I got mad respect f
whut hes gone through and
whut hes created with his life, hes a natural and a
original ,I wish nothing
but success and love f everybody at psychopathic,I
hope it rain diamonds on
them dudes f the rest of they lives period.
HODGE: Not to stir up old beef, but nobody is really
certain why VIOLENT J
ever started to dislike you? I mean we all heard the
initial reports that
the split was over some Record Label Website tactics
to steal fans or
someshit. However, thats not a reason to hate on you
just the Label Site
people. What gives man?
MARZ:right now im fully focused on looking forward,I
got my money on my mind
and my nose to the grind, that’s all I know
HODGE: Alright new topic. Who would you like to do a
future Collaboration
with? Now, I've met Vanilla Ice and he had nothing but
love for your music.
Would that collab be a possibility in the future? I
think his new sound
would go well with your style.
MARZ:awight heres my list in no particular order
twiztid,redman,dmx,trina,nas,bubba
sparx,twista,outcast,killa mike,joe
budden, pharoahe monk, esham, pety Pablo and blaze
HODGE: Is Koas still gonna be your hype man on
Twiztids upcoming "Green
Book" tour?
MARZ:hell ya kaos is gonna be representin homie
HODGE: Are you gonna be ressurecting the facepaint for
this tour?
MARZ:naw no face paint but we gotta couple a trix up
our sleeves
HODGE: I heard a rumor that your gonna be on a new
compilation called
"Underground Heads" which features your homie D-Mentd
and a bunch of other
indy rappers. Any truth to this?
MARZ:that’s the first time I ever heard of it,
HODGE: That new song "Cutthroat" off your Gorilla
Pimpin album is fuckin
lethal man! Have you done any other recordings with
Johnathon Davis of
Korn?
MARZ:naw that’s the only track we did, ya johns the
shit another original
HODGE: Now I know alot of MARZ fans are wondering
this..."when the fuck can
I buy the new MARZ album". Is it deffinetely gonna be
available on the
Green Book tour?
MARZ:absolutely positively, and I suggest you cop it
when we roll through on
tour, cuzz its on some other level ,sonically I don’t
even know whut to
compare it to ,you can have a shitty 20 doller cd
player and it still
thumps,or you can have a 20 thousand doller system,
blast it and it feels
like the music actually is going into your cells ,the
mixes are that
tyte, the album is hyped as fuck gets you amped to do
whut ever,its like a
energy source you need some strength? Put gorilla
pimpin on and see whut
happens to your energy level……..
HODGE: Hey, was Mike P originally a part of MARZ or
helped produce for you
or something? I thought I heard a rumor like that
around the time when the
MARZ/ICP "Fuck Them" song came out.
MARZ:naw I met mike p working on dark lotus,,,,whuts
up mike??????he cool as
a mutha fuker
HODGE: Whats your favorite song on "Gorilla Pimpin"?
my favorite gotta be” damn”
HODGE: One last question bro. What was that song from
when you were in
MINISTRY, where you spit a rap verse instead of
guitars?
MARZ:it was called dead guy but they took me of it and
al jergenson did the
vox,he thought I sounded too much like a raper
HODGE: Thanks again for the interview man. I really
appreciate this shit.
Any final words for those who may be reading this?
MARZ:mad love to your site and all of yall that still
got an open mind ,I
been on a lotta tours, toured with ministry ,korn, did
festivals in Europe
with 90 thousand people watchin,I aint tryin to dis
anybody by sayin this
,but juggalos are the illest ,freshest, craziest
mufukers I ever played
for, once you play in front of juggalos I don’t know
how you go back to
playin f reguler mufukers ,trust me I did it ,it
sucked………see yall on
tour………
Well, thats all for now ninjas. Until next time-
Peace and MCL!!!

NEW MARZ INTERVIEW
PART
2!!!.......
What up ninjas. As I promised last week I have
another exclusive interview with MARZ for you- the part 2!
However, it's not on the positive tour/reunion
note
many of us wanted it to be on. As you've all
heard
already MARZ was forced off of the GREENBOOK
tour.
Although the man had planned for it for months,
spent
$20,000 on preperations, and cleared his calendar
months ahead of time- just to be turned away at
the
venue...you'll be suprised on the attitude MARZ
still
maintains. Well, you'll see what I'm talking
about-
MARZ INTERVIEW PART 2
HODGESup MARZ! I got alot of responses after
our
last interview. Man, you still have a ton of
Juggalos
who bump your shit bro. So of course we gotta
give
your fans a round 2 interview on here to fill em
in on
all the recent drama and whatnot.
MARZ- Whats up HODGE! Mad love to all those
juggalos
who sent the positive responses from our last
interview!
HODGEI talked to you on the phone late thursday
night and you were under the impression that
everything was going as planned with the tour.
Why
weren't you informed that you were no longer a
part of
the tour before you drove all the way to
kentucky?
MARZ- Well from what I was told on friday, I was
supposed to have gotten a call on tuesday. My
agent
was supposed to have recieved the call. Well, he
told
me that he never got any message. I wish I
woulda
known in advance cause it woulda saved me a ton
of
time and $.
HODGE Who broke the bad news to you anyway?
MARZ- I arrived there around 12 noon on friday
and
TWIZTID told me the news. We talked for about an
hour
and a half. They were put in a bad spot by
Violent J.
I understood thier their situation. They
couldn't
believe how calm I was bout it all. I'm still
really
tight with them and I gaurantee we'll collab or
tour
in the future!
HODGE Was TWIZTID upset about you being kicked
off
the tour?
MARZ- Yeah, they were suprised that VIOLENT J
waited
till tuesday to tell them to drop me. They
seemed
geniunely upset that they had to ask me off the
tour.
HODGE Any other musicians in mind for a rebound
tour?
MARZ- Right now I've already got my agent
working on
booking some single show dates here in chicago.
He's
also looking up a bunch of musicians I know to
see if
they wanna do a tour. No official show dates
yet, but
it's in the works.
MARZ- Also, we already made plans to film the
video
for the song "DAMN" next month! All my homies
and a
bunch of MARZ Tribe Gorillaz are gonna be
featured in
it. You're invited Hodge.
HODGE Fuck yeah man!
HODGE Speaking of musicians you know, aren't
you
friends with Tommy Lee?
MARZ- Yeah man. You'll never believe this shit
but I
met him when he came back from a Europeon tour or
some
shit. He knew who I was and told me that he'd
bought
my first album right before he went over seas.
He
told me he played it non stop over there. He
knew all
the lyrics and shit. We chilled for a bit. Lemme
tell
you something, thats one down to earth/cool mutha
fucker right there.
HODGE Now this is the 2nd time in recent
history
that VIOLENT J has dissed you(GOTJ
comments/tour).
Each time you've taken the higher road in your
responses. Is it getting hard to "bite your
tongue"
now that soo much of your own $ was lost?
MARZ- Not really. If you let people control
your
emotions they win. He has a legitimate reason
for his
actions and only he knows what it is. Believe it
or
not, I ain't mad at him. I'm just going in a new
direction ya know.
HODGE Did the Rock Band you used to be in-
"Ministry" ever contact you about touring with
them
again?
MARZ- Not about touring. We still talk as
friends
though. That was always a side project to me.
They
know I wouldn't do it again. I barely accepted
the
guitar position last time. I just did it to help
some
friends in need. Hip hop has always been more my
thing ya know.
HODGE Can you clear up the net rumor about the
hidden track on your new "Gorilla Pimpin" album?
Some
people seem to think it's a secret diss to
Violent J.
MARZ- It's all a lie man. That dude made it all
up.
It was a skit about my engineer Mumbles Rumbly.
He's
an englishmen and sometimes with his accent it
seems
like he's mumbling. It had nothing to do with
VIOLENT
J. Believe me if I'm gonna diss someone it'll be
obvious. Not some silly secret code type song.
Mumbles is my boy and me and choas were just
having a
lil fun with him. That rumor was completely
false.

HODGE In your opinion who's the hottest
hollywood
chick out there today?
MARZ- Well, she's on the big screen but not
hollywood
films. Her name is Bella Donna and she's a Porn
star.
I dig Porn chicks dawg. She's actually a friend
of
mine as well.
HODGE How about the hottest lady in the music
biz?
MARZ (& HODGE)- MYA! How'd you know that dawg?
Thats
some crazy psychic shit right there, lol.
HODGE I hear ya.
HODGE What cds are playing in your stereo
nowadays?
MARZ- Mostly hip hop. I gotta alotta unreleased
50
Cent, Beanie Seigel...you know mostly hip hop
shit.
HODGE While you were on tour with KORN, did
Juggalos
ever show up to support you?
MARZ- Hell yeah they did. Juggalos have always
shown
me love! I know this sounds like I'm kissing
ass, but
honestly I'd rather play shows for Juggalos than
any
other crowd. Thier just way more into the music
and
wild. I mean, I played shows with SNOOP DOGG,
MINISTRY, KORN, ect. But Juggalos were always
the
most hype crowds.
HODGE I can remember rumors floating around in
2001
that you were thinking of re-releasing "Lung Fu
Mo
She" on Psychopathic with some bonus tracks
featuring
ICP. Were those bonus tracks ever recorded?
MARZ- All a rumor.
HODGE Do you produce music for anyone else
besides
Estella Soleil? What did you do on that ACUMEN
NATION
album called "Universe"?
MARZ- No I don't produce for anyone else now. I
can't remember what I did on that ACUMEN album.
We
all worked at the same studio, but I got tired of
doing free work on other peoples albums. I just
produce for myself now. Estella is still cool
with me
though.
HODGEHave you ever met MIKE E. CLARK? He's an
incredible producer in my opinion! Any chance of
getting him to do a beat on one of your songs?
MARZ- MIKE E. CLARK is amazing! I've met him
and I'm
very interested in doing some shit with him in
the
future.
HODGE Where did you grow up man?
MARZ- I was born and raised in Croatia until the
age
of 8. My mom is Muslim and my dad is White.
HODGE Did you speak English when you arrived in
the
U.S.?
MARZ- No I knew no Enlish at all homie. In fact
I
had never even seen Black people until we moved
to the
U.S. We moved to an all black neighborhood, but
it
didn't take me to long to adjust. I made some
Great
friends as a kid that I still chill with today.
HODGE Where in the U.S. did you live?
MARZ- The Southside of Chicago. I fuckin love
Chicago man! I still live there.
HODGE Do you still practice any form of Magic?
MARZ- Yeah I do. Not Black Magic or anything.
I get
into a form of Magic where you learn to focus
your
intent on something. So I'll focus all the
energy
onto something. Kinda like trimming away the fat
in
life and focusing on a goal. People can no
longer
affect your emotions. No more trippin on shit
anymore
ya know.
HODGE My homie wanted to know if that EP you
mentioned in our last interview has been pushed
back
because of the current circumstances?
MARZ- Yeah that EP is still coming out this
year!
But not just a cd...a DVD also. I'm planning for
a
december 1st release date for both.
HODGE What can we expect to hear on the EP?
MARZ- A few unreleased songs, some remakes, and
alot
of skits that Geffin had me remove from "Gorilla
Pimpin". We got alotta good shit coming out.
The dvd
is packed with all kinds of rare footage,
interviews,
skits, etc. And since I can't sell Gorilla
Pimpin on
the tour as planned, it'll be available in the
webstore ASAP. Plus a bunch of new clothing is
on the
horizon.

HODGE Well, I wanna thank you again for taking
the
time out to do this interview with me bro.
You're an
extremely talented musician and I wish the best
of
luck to you! Any final thoughts for those
reading
this?
MARZ- Nah man, Thank you Hodge. Your site has
shown
mad support since day 1. Even when it wasn't
"trendy"
to like me anymore, your site always gave me
alotta
support and I really appreciate that shit. And
also
thanks to all the Juggalos who've stayed down
with me
over the years. One Love to ya'll.
MARZ- Oh yeah, thiers one more thing on my mind.
Check this out. On the friday the 15th, right
after I
had my long discussion with TWIZTID in which they
informed me that VOILENT J wanted me off the
tour...something incredible happened. Well,
first off
MONOXIDE CHILD gave me a bag to smoke as I was leaving.
Me
and my boys went back to the campsite and smoked
MONO's bag and ate a bunch of shrooms out under
the
stars. We were trippin our asses off right. So
there
we are lookin up at the sky just trippin ya know.
On
that night the planet Marz was closest to earth
than
it's been in like 50,000 years. The only
standout
thing in the sky was this Big Red planet Marz!
It was
like a big incredible sign or something. So I
just
laid there and it completely erased all the drama
that
had unfolded that day.
Well, there you have it ninjas. Thats all for
now. Jugalinkos been in and out of town, and Clown E Love and Donn Dymond Get back from TIJUANA MEXICO today
so look for news from them soon, i had to hold it down while they were gone.
Until next time. peace and MCL!!!
