E3 2004! Anything Can Happen When Kae Invades…
Juggalos.. Gamers.. Media.. Shit Talkers….. Everyone unites for this one week out of the year, here in beautiful Los Angeles California. The Electronics Entertainment Exposition attracts all of those mentioned above, from all over the world. Everyone crams into the Los Angeles Convention Center to see the latest electronic systems, as well as the games that are out, will be out, or are still in process of being created. Thousands of games are on display for gamers to play and enjoy.
Now, this year was no different that last years, but when you throw Juggalos in the Mix. The atmoshpere changes. May 11th, The infamous Changoland Crew and myself met up to start this week of gaming. That Tuesday was the Media briefing for Nintendo. International Media, Local Media, and ourselves were in attendance. I’m not a very big fan of Nintendo and their presentation wasn’t too appealing. I gotta give props where props are due. Nintendo dazzled the crowd with the unveiling of the New handheld system, the “DS”. This handheld is more advanced that anything else on the market. The DS is a dual skreen, touch screen, and capabilities of a cell fone like Text Messaging and Wireless webbing. In Chango’s words, “It was good, but not a WOW.”
That Wednesday, May 12th, began the actual opening of exhibition halls. Many of you know my
cousin/bodyguard “Sean Paul“, D. We cruised into the Convention center a little before 10. First
thing we hear is, WHUDDDUP NINJA! It was this one ninja from Canada, Jacob, and his homie. We talked for a bit and the doors opened up. Before D or myself checked out the Exhibition halls. We mobbed upstairs to the Media Hospitality Suite, and I took my position behind my desk like a champ! Various workers approached and acknowledged me for all my hard work on Milenko 500, as well as for my stupidity behind my desk that wasn’t really mine. Shortly after we left the suite to the exhibit halls where we see internation superstar himself, Gary Coleman. The brutha looked
liked he came straight outta a Resident Evil Movie. Right behind him was the Exhibit halls where
many game industries set up their best presentation and work their magic to impress the E3 audience. Nintendo, Eidos, Sony, Microsoft, Konomi, and Activision were some of the huge names with displays. After last years awesome exhibit of actual Backyard Wrestling with a full size wrestling ring, Eidos Booth the first stop on my E3 adventure. Although there was no ring set up this year, the booth was no less entertaining. Eidos had the New Backyard Wrestling 2 “There Goes the Neighborhood” for play. The also had suprise guest Tara Patrick signing autographs. Back to Eidos Later on. We continued to explore the halls, and we came across Stan Lee signing autographs. Stan Lee is the creator or many comics such as the Hulk. At lunch time, My Homie Nvision wasnt entertained so he decided to take a table cloth and entertain himself. Never leave around things you dont want damaged. We continued to walk and took pictures with the beautiful ladies of E3. The day came slowly to an end. We decided to hit up them Media Only parties. Free Drinks, No ID checks!!!
Ever go to sleep on Christmas Eve with the excitement of knowing Santa is coming in a couple of
hours?! (Yea I still believe in Santa! SO THE FXCK WHAT).
Following the Wednesday, Juggalos knew who would be there at the Eidos booth at 2:00 pm that Thursday. Backyard Wrestling’s Biggest stars were scheduled to sign autographs, that being no other than Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J himself, Insane Clown Posse. Now the rest of the day went as the day before, with the exception that none of us wanted to do shit until we met up with ICP. I cant deny that I enjoyed watching Girls of… well I forgot where they came from, Dance. After that we went to Media Lunch, and then shortly after went to go line up to see ICP. Kevin Gill, from Eidos, was roaming around at this time, and we knew the time rolled around when we saw, M500 Superstar Ry Ry 2 Slow walkin the area. A little after ICP came out. I got what I wanted signed by the clowns, then proceeded to catch up with Ry Ry. I asked him if he was playing Body Guard, and he responded, “Man I do it all!. (Ry Ry was the Artist
Manager for the Dark Lotus Tour) It was Ry Ry’s first E3 Experience. Shortly after I met up with
Kevin Gill. As I mentioned in a previous post, Kev is responsible for the Backyard Wrestling Games. He developed the concept for the original Backyard Wrestling: Dont Try This at Home Game. There is a significant change in the 2nd BYW Game. Graphics hit a new high, and the game all around is promised to be just as devistating if not more. Kev informed me that he wil be attending the 2004 Gathering of the Juggalos. There is no word on whether BYW 2 will be on display there, but hes out to party. If you see him around, Make sure you give him props for all his hard work on the BYW games. Kev is a hardcore Juggalo. He informed me that the Wrestling ring of last year could not be brought back because E3 wouldn’t allow it. Hes working on it for next year! Also Next Spring, Eidos will be releasing a game called “25 to Life”. If you love GTA, you’ll love this game just as much, if not more.We meet up with different ninjas after kicking it at Eidos’ Booth. Props to Sean and Justin.
The third day is always the shortest, but the longest. After being there for three years, you’ve hit every booth. Collected what free goodies they have, and moved on. Your hands hurt from three days of playing games, so all that is left is final pictures. So thats what we did. We met up with our homie Guy who was working at the Nintendo booth as a Activision representive for Shriek 2. There was no free lunch, so after playing Mortal Kombat Deception for hours, we got up and left. Ive gotten overwhelming questions asking if I saw the new Sony Handheld, the “PSP”. The answer is yes and no. Yes I saw it, no I couldn’t play it. No one could. LAPD heavily guarded it as if it were the Pope. My rating on the PSP from what I could see is, Nintendo DS will totally beat the Fxck Out of it. After the whole E3 Week came to an end. I could no nothing more than simply pass out with all the other gamers…
E3 is awesome. For those of you who get a chance, make sure you check it out one year. Remember it is a trade only event, so it is not open to the public. Many ninjas made it over there, but found out they needed passes to get it. To buy admission ranges from 300- 700 dollars. I wanna again thank Kevin Gill for all his hook ups, 411 and allowing me to take a shxt load of pics. Props to Ry Ry, and a big ass thanks to my homies at CHANGOLAND.com, Chango, Nvision, and all them. I’ll be back again next year May 18- 20th, 2005. WOO WOO! LOVE YA’LL MMFCL!
