first off whats up with you and KmK? how did ya hook up and shit?
Daddy x is my brother. D loc and Johnny Richter and us grew up a few blocks
from -eachother. We four are from the same home town "p town" placentia in
california. It's a suburban area southeast of l.a.
what were ya listening too when you were just starting to get into making
your own music?
I grew up on funk music with daddy x. Earth wind and fire, parliment,
funkadelic, things like that. Eventually rap came out with sugar hill gang,
disco three, curtis blow that kind of stuff and we liked it but at about
that time I discovered and fell in love with punk music and went in that
direction, daddy x stayed strong to rap for a few years but eventually caved
in to the punk thing and went hardcore in that direction. I listen to
everything now, art is inspiration. Music is the universal language and
speaks to all of us.
I have always written poetry and once I got into punk I started a band and
we wrote our own music from the get go. My first punk band was called the
militants, then I was in the black sheep and finally jet set which was a
huge inspiration to daddy x and their punk band doggy style.
do you listen to the same shit now that you did back then? or has itchanged?
I listen to everything now. My brother taught me about icp when they were
on tour together with the humble gods. I'll never forget daddy x calling me
saying he was on tour with the greatest band in the world!!! He and violent
J seemed to hit it off really well..I think ICP has a punk attitude of do it
yourself and daddy x loved that...So I listen to much of the same stuff plus
all the new music that's out now. Pakelika is like an underground hip hop
guru and he teaches me alot about that kind of music, along with the rest of
the kings and grand vanacular. Of course I listen to all the 1605 shit
especially human lab, famous and loony bin..
in your music you say the right things in every verse... what your screamin
is definatley truth. how did you educate yourself to understand these
problems with society that you talk about?
I have toured this country over 21 times. The first 18 of them were in a
broken down van with no money and in front of crowds anywhere from 1 to 30
people. We have played in peoples living rooms, backyards, hole in the wall
clubs, everywhere you can play. We are artists and that's what we do. In
our travels we saw a lot of shit as well as having a lot of time to think
and read. I read a lot. I went on a quest for spiritual knowledge and
discovered native american spirituality. This naturally led me to want to
study about this amazing paradigm which led me to learn about the true
history of what happened on this continent.
It also led me to search for my history, the history and spirituality of my
ancestors and I found a common experience that was that christianity had
tried with all it's bloody might to wipe any spirituality which was not
theirs off the face of the earth.
As I began to find my ancestors spirituality it led me to an understanding
of our place in the universe and to value every life, every existence as a
unique miracle of reality. I began to express this in music along with my
best friend the distant go man (or wind) and my brother daddy x. It has
grown from there.
how does it make you feel to know that youve been able to spread the truth
like you have?
I cannot tell you how great it feels when we get emails and people tell us
that they are looking into their heritage and the spriritual practices of
their ancestors, for we were all tribal at one time. We are truthfully in
shock at how many people feel the same as us, it has been amazing!!!
what was it like doing your shit for the juggalos at the gathering? what do
ya think of juggalos after performing infront of thousands of them?
That was one of our greates shows ever as the corporate avenger. The
juggalos have been amazing towards us and the kottonmouth kings. It felt
like we were playing in front of 8000 old friends. The juggalos are all
real. They are into something because they like it not because mtv or the
radio told them to. It reminds me of going to a fear show in 1981...it's
amazing. We get a lot of email from the juggalos..we love it.
do you listen to ICP or Twiztid? if so do you have a favorite album or song?
I heard of icp as I told you from daddy x. He has played me everything they
have ever done kmk banged it alot on the bus, it's pretty crazy shit...I
love the whole concept of the dark carnival I can't say I listen to it on a
regular basis because I would be lying but I have heard it and listended to
it a lot on the kmk tours. I haven't heard too much twiztid but I look
forward to listening to it.
what do ya think of how freely information is transfered on the internet. as
in Mp3's and shit? I love it.
do you vote in any goverment elections? or no? (personally I dont wanna be
responsible for putting any of those ass monkeys in the whitehouse... so I
dont vote)
I wasn't home soon enough to vote in the last election because I moved and i
have to re register and I don't believe that voting works currently if it's
something too radical to the status quo.
We have a corporate avenger song called, "voting doesn't work, when they
don't like what we say then they stop it in the courts...."
I like to vote just in case, though...
whats going down in 2001 for corporate avenger? new material? new merch? new
tour? We are in the studio right now, we are finishing the new testament which
well be re released as a complete product in march or april. We put that
version out to have something more current than taxes are stealing for the
kmk tours. We are probably going to call the new release "web of lies"
so far the track listing looks like:
Fault the Police Taxes are Stealing
The bible is bullshit Jesus christ homosexual Enemy of the Gospel Pig is a Pig
FBI file Crime pays 20 dollar bill (new version) Web of Lies (new version)
From nothing to this Christians murdered Indians
Maybe something else..As far as merch goes we have lots of new stuff at
www.merch.com and are adding stuff all the time. We are going to get on the
road and play at peoples homes in february after we are done recording for a
living room tour and head out with kmk in late spring.
give us a short description of the whole band behind corporate avenger..
Like who? and what they do?
I am the corporate avenger and I write and sing. There is the distant goman
also known as the wind and he writes and sings, he is my best friend and we
have always felt the same about many issues and spiritual viewpoints.
Rebel One wears the red white and blue bandana and he is from the band loony
binn in long beach, he is a rapper who represents the young new generation
along with the taxman who collects the lies while corporate avenger
distributes the truth.Pakelika is pakelika and informs via his signs and tattos.
DJ hall of records provides the sound effects and ambiance to our sound.
the atf guard the stage and fill in the back ups sometimes and protect the
integrity of the performance.
is there anything you wanna say to the juggalos? make it as short or as long
as you want.
We would like to seriously thank the juggalos for their acceptance and
support of the corporate avenger. We believe that the juggalos represent a
new generation of punk rockers who think for themselves and like music they
like because they discover it not because it is fed to them.
